First: a simple "clicker" - the "other" is our dream reel, we can not talk about it, yet. The "clicker" has the frame, spindle, foot, and spool made from aerospace certified solid Titanium 6AL-4V round bar. The "other" will be worth waiting for our protection to be finalized.
SALTWATER: LOVES IT!
Titanium does not rust, corrode, blemish, chip, oxidize - it just is - and remains as you bought it. The only piece we could not make maintenance-free is the Torrington clutch bearing. I pack-it with Krytox 225 and secure to the spool in a solid Titanium carrier. We include extra carrier/bearing assemblies - in case this A/R feature ever fails. It's our "warranty-in-the-box" protecting your investment.
HOW IT WORKS:
The solid Titanium spool rotates on a Torlon 4301 bushing with a small amount of Krytox 225 grease. Direct Drive or A/R. The A/R - when you choose to retrieve line; the clutch bearing is instant and rotates the spool. When the fish adds pressure - you can let off the crank, it stays without rotating. You can palm the spool, if you choose. The spool and crank are secured with an o-ring. Reel simple. The "clicker" is adjustable for sound as well as pressure.
DRAG WASHERS - LOTS TO CHOOSE FROM.
Our design allows you to change or experiment with different materials. We have included Teflon, Delrin, Torlon, and (of course) Carbon Fiber drag washers. Add the included Titanium washers between, if you want to double up. Have fun experimenting - it's your reel!
WHY US?
All companies have a start date, hope they can be successful, and, of course, we all want to live long and prosper. Knowing the argument of, "best you buy from a long established company" - We designed our fly reels to protect each consumer with a problem free fly reel. We include parts that could wear out only after years of hard fishing: several o-rings, clickers, bushings, and a few clutch bearings. The Titanium is trouble free, unless you run over it.
AFFORDABLE CUSTOMIZATION:
Since each reel is custom built to your size requirements - no two are the same. We will soon make a run of 100 most likely near the 8-weight size. Offer them up on Ebay with an option for custom laser engraving at our cost.
We are near finalizing our protection on our industry unique drag feature. It is so cool! Let us know if the 8WT is the best choice.
HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?
Our first thought was, "If we could make a solid Titanium Fly Reel that works as well as the best Aluminum Fly Reels - we might sell a few - if they were the same price." Titanium 6AL-4V round rod was $9 dollars a pound when we started designing and when we felt we had a Titanium fly reel worth offering - 6AL-4V is near $60.
AWARENESS:
Internet e-commerce - How can we make that work? We knew we had a real strong product - tell a few people - and see what happens. We launched our very simple web page April 7th and as of today, April 30th, we have had visitors from 66 countries - we hope this information helps answers some questions.
